Virtual nutrition coaching and easy, nutritious recipes from Chicago-based dietitian, Amanda Izquierdo, MPH, RD, LDN.
I am thrilled to be part of the health and wellness community, providing reliable, evidence-based recommendations. I hope to be your trusted food and nutrition resource. No question is too small.
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and after stints in Nashville and Ann Arbor, I’m happy to have found my way back home, where I currently work at a public relations agency helping food companies tell their nutrition stories credibly.
My road to becoming an RD started during my undergraduate program at Vanderbilt University - I loved my Intro to Nutrition class, but with no nutrition or dietetics major available, I didn't know how to use my interest to pursue a career. After graduating and working for several years in pharmaceutical advertising, I decided I needed to follow my passion. To earn my credentials as an RD, I returned to school to pursue a Master of Public Health in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan and then completed over 1200 hours of supervised dietetics practice at Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital.
Food is very much a part of my life - I even named by rescue cat Albóndiga, which means “meatball” in Spanish. Every morning, I’m excited that my role as a dietitian means I’m surrounded by the power of good food. I love cooking, running along Lake Michigan and I’ll never turn down trying new Chicago restaurants.
